The healing properties
of the town’s sulphuric waters have been sought out since Roman times. The public spa was built in the 18th century. In the 19th century, visiting Carratraca’s spa became the height of fashion enjoying royal patronage.
Located close to the town hall, known as the Arab house, the baths were recently renovated. The original baths with marble-lined pools, Jacuzzis, mud treatments and massage on offer, are once again open all year round. Carratraca Spa is again a magnet for health tourists.

Carratraca Passion Play.
The passion play is staged in the old bull ring at easter time. The "ampi-theatre" is carved into the face of the hill and has amazing accoustics which contribute to the incredible atmosphere of this performance.
Embruja de la luna mora
Once a year, in September, the streets of Carratraca are candle lit. The main street is filled with "moorish" stalls, and the place is alive with the sound of music. A truly atmospheric and unforgetable festival.
