Pilates
Pilates is a physical fitness system developed in the early 20th century by Joseph Pilates in Germany.
Pilates called his method Contrology, because he believed his method uses the mind to control the muscles. The program focuses on the core postural muscles which help keep the body balanced and which are essential to providing support for the spine. In particular, Pilates exercises teach awareness of breath and alignment of the spine, and aim to strengthen the deep torso muscles.
Pilates is a slow and controlled form of exercise that works the abdominal muscles, the back, posture and joint mobility. The exercises are mainly carried out standing, sitting and lying on a mat and they are particularly good for bad back problems. It is also incredibly good for lowering high stress levels and is a very relaxing form of exercise sutable for people of all ages and levels of fitness.
During the warmer weather we offer Pilates session in our yurt with Melanie.
You will however, need to book in advance. When we have sufficient interest we can offer group session but if you prefer we can almost always organise one to one work.
'Hi My name is Melanie Byrne and I have been a fitness instructor
in private health clubs in the UK for over 20 years.
I love training and educating people in fitness and I have a very
friendly, personable approach. I am fully qualified and trained in many areas
of fitness but mainly want to concentrate on Pilates in Spain.
